Project Management

I will successfully take your project from conception to printed proofs.

Whether you are:

  • a publishing company looking for a project manager for a series of books or a one-off specialist book
  • a community group or business producing a publication about yourselves or your history
  • a corporate organisation producing an annual or specialist report
  • a fiction author who wants your manuscript taken through editing, proofreading and formatting for publication

or something in between… I can successfully manage the entire project for you.

For example, let’s say you are a historical society looking to produce a book about your town. I will liaise with your society and the author with face-to-face meetings, first to establish your requirements, timeframe, budget and so forth, and later to provide updates on the progress of the project as it is taken through editing and design. When you are 100% satisfied with the finished product, I will produce print-ready files and can help organise the printing of your publication.

My aim is to exceed your expectations.

Examples of project management experience:

I have helped numerous authors realise their dream of self-publishing their book. We start with all stages of editing, depending on what level the manuscript is at, before liaising on the layout of the book and cover design, from the size to the look and feel through appealing typography and imagery. Once the client is 100% satisfied with their book, I assist with uploading print-ready files to print-on-demand services, or they can use a printer of their choice. I can also create an ebook version, if required.

As the Editorial Director of a London-based events listings company, I successfully managed an international arts events project, including staff management, off-shore data company management, setting editorial direction, creating production schedules, creating style guides, coordinating database design and getting the project up and running for online publication and data feeds.

As the Project Editor of a London-based publishing company, I juggled a variety of non-fiction book and part-work projects at any one time, managing the production schedules, freelance writers, photographers, designers and others to produce each project on time and to budget.

As the Editor of a Melbourne-based educational and vocational resources publisher, I managed a series of workbooks, including liaising with writers, instructional designers and in-house staff to successfully complete each project series to deadline.
